Today I tried something new Pi-Yo Class.
Standing in the front of the Y waiting for it to open at 4:45 some of the regulars were talking about a local personal training studio and about a bootcamp class they take there, I said I had not heard of it, they mentioned oh she also does yoga..
I opened my mouth to say I really need something like that as I am so inflexible, so Trish and Michelle both piped in to say well we do the 5:30 PiYo class at the Y. Well I say I have to be out of here at 6 am to get to work on time, they mentioned they sometimes only stay for a 1/2 hr of the class... Open mouth insert foot.
So I did the elliptical for 35 minutes, then went down with some regulars to the class area at our Y and participated in the PiYo class - its a combo of pilates and yoga - thought I was going to topple over. Not only do I not bend very well, I don't have the greatest balance - and I was working up a freaking sweat holding some of these poses.
but I did enjoy the class and will certainly participate again and on a more regular basis.

Monday 11/19
sometimes it is so hard to drag yourself out of bed at 4:15 am, thankfully the Elite program keeps my feet to the fire.
Hit the gym for 45 minutes toughed out on the elliptical. Then after work it was so balmy here in Chicago, I hit the same path I ran on Sunday. Again nothing spectacular just trying to keep my HR at a decent level and getting my body use to running again.

Sunday 11/18 - off and running - sorta of
just couldn't handle another day of cardio at the gym so I put on some cold weather running clothing and headed out for a very short and not fast run :o) - I mean after not running for months you can't just put your running shoes back on and go balls to the wall.
As they say for cold weather running, when you go out the door you should initially be a little chilly cause you DO heat up on the run. I think I could have done without the windbreaker and just my long sleeved top but all was good, I was not one bit cold. But then again it ain't -30 out either.
I ran about 2.3 miles which was plenty for this non-runner who has not been running, I was not going for speed just going for getting my feet/legs/body back into the groove. Time was about 30 minutes or a 12:46 avg mile pace, that's ok by me. I wanted to be sure I kept my heart rate not soaring close to my max and I did that my average HR was 153 bpm.
Now its time to shower and head to Gurnee for a confirmation and luncheon.
