So far so good....
Friday we got Trevor enrolled in after school care.. since I started work on Monday... was a bit concerned how he would take to it... for all intents and purposes he is an only child (not really he has a 1/2 sister who is 20 and a 1/2 brother who is 12ish but they do not live with us)... He is going to La Petite Academy... goes all day on no school days and goes right there after school on normal school days or early release days... Of course because of some crazy scheduling in Dorchester District II... after having two weeks off for Christmas and such.. they had teacher in service days (ya right) Monday and Tuesday... that meant no school for the kids... so Trevor had to dive in with both feet into a full day at day care... was not sure at all what the reaction would be when we picked him up yesterday but he said 'this was fun' - now today is full day #2 that could all change of course..but I think the interaction with other kids, outside of a classroom setting is a great thing for him... you don't really learn how to interact with kids as much when your "an only child" mainly because your always around adults..
This past weekend Matt and I attended new members classes at our church... so on Sunday Trevor was in Sunday school from 9 till 12:15... then of course Sunday we signed him up for Awana at church so he was back there again on Sunday from 4-6pm...
poor kid is going to think we are trying to pawn him off but it was just some timing issues.. He seems to like AWANA but again I hold all judgement for a while... he seems to think just reading the scriptures to me is cause to sign off on them but the idea is to memorize the scriptures... and for the kids his age they are smaller scriptures such as 1 John 4:14 "the Father has sent his Son to be the savior of the world" and he has pretty much learned (with a few helps) John 3:16 - the side benefit here is... this is helping me... I've always kind of been amazed at folks that can recite scripture and have the prefect passage for the moment right on top of their heads, but I have never taken the time to LEARN and memorize it myself and now this is the perfect opportunity.. in helping Trevor I am helping myself too - and as a little adult/kids competition within AWANA... they are having an adults verse the kids... and the adults can earn pins for reciting verses... the kids earn wings, jewels for the wings and patches, and awana bucks for their efforts... I pray Trevor continues to enjoy it - most especially for the aspect of learning about God but also for more interaction time with other children...
And yesterday was my first day at work... well actually it was a training day, that wasn't so exciting... but today I got to sit with the receptionist and learn the phone system... this also helps in seeing all the faces I'll be workign with as they come and go.. I know it seems like I will never remember everyone... but it all comes in time I know... The young gal at the receptionist desk, Tara, is really sweet.. I will relieve her for lunch... and today they asked if I could work full time until the position ends.. now I was so excited and said yes but I'm not sure if that is full time for a day or so or full time until the gals I am relieving from maternity leave return... but I'll figure it out and for now its extra money... still no benefits but my hopes are I will dazzle them enough they want to keep me.. or at the very least when they grow will consider re-hiring me.. only time will tell...
ok now I've got to go doctor up some leftovers and see if I can pull some wool over the guys eyes... they hate leftovers and I hate wasting food...

Well it looks like things are rolling in the right direction, hope it continues :)
Wow Kim what a great way to get the scripture to little ones and big ones alike. I wonder if our church offers anything like that I will have to check. I will be watching and reading and seeing what progress you all are making.
Good luck on the new job, I am sure you will do amazing!!!
Isn't the journey with God just so amazing!!!
