Hanging on

Did you ever hang onto something but you were not really sure WHY you were hanging onto it?

You just know a week from now, a month, 6 months, a year... your going to look back at that same thing and wonder again....

WHY????

Why did I hang onto this?

What is it for you?? a favorite pair of pants??? that you can't fit into, they are like 5 yrs old and out of style, yet... you hang onto them just hoping that one day... just maybe you might fit into them again??? hoping for maybe that same feeling when you could wear them 5 yrs ago?

Is it an old card or letter from a past love?? someone that broke your heart maybe??? or even better someone that didn't break your heart but is no longer your love???

Is it an old calendar??? years long past??? but you hold onto it for some notes written in it???

Or is it a relationship that you fear letting go because you fear being alone???  when the reality is that is how you feel anyhow on some level... you keep hoping and wishing it will be or would be different but it never seems to be??? but you see occasional glimpses from time to time so you keep hanging on???

So what is it for you... what are you hanging onto??

I know for me.. I am holding onto or have held onto all of the above in some way, shape or form.... be it now or at some point in my life.

I hanged on to bitterness (still hanging on to some things I need to let go) and to anxiety and fear for the longest of times. I've done better with anxiety and fear and worry, but I do realize there are several things I still harbor bitterness about that I need to pray about and forgive and move on.
